LLM Post-Training / Agentic Reinforement Learning

👋 Welcome

I'm Taewhoo Lee, a PhD student at Korea University under the guidance of Professor Jaewoo Kang. I build large language models with strong context processing capabilities, grounded by concrete analysis of their inner mechanisms and thorough performance evaluation. My recent work centers on training self-improving search agents, interpreting how LLMs reason over implicit information, distilling domain-specific knowledge via fine-tuning, and evaluating how LLMs utilize given context.

I'm also focused on applying my research at production scale. I am currently an Applied Scientist Intern on the Alexa AI team at Amazon, studying efficient training methods that bridge the gap between what reasoning LLMs internally represent and how they act in agentic search scenarios. Previously, I was a research intern on the post-training team at Upstage, equipping Solar Open 2 and Solar Pro 4 with web search capabilities, and at AIGEN Sciences, exploring effective strategies for training biomedical tool-use agents.

🔬 Research Focus

My work centers on training and aligning large language models for effective context processing, grounded by concrete analysis of their inner mechanisms and thorough performance evaluation.
